So inspiring! A janitor at Columbia University is graduating from the Ivy League school after 12 years of part-time classes. Bulkan war refugee Gac Filipaj told us why he did it:

Filipaj, an ethnic Albanian from Montenegro, was persistent even when friends and relatives wondered why a man his age was still studying. He ignored remarks that he could find a second job and earn more money, or that he should get married and start a family.
“It did not discourage me at all, because if I think that I’m doing the right thing, I don’t pay much attention to what other people say,” he told The Daily. “I don’t think that I make myself a better person if I’m rich. I think I make myself a better person if I’m better educated.”

Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin “defriended” America and renounced his U.S. citizenship to avoid a $450 million possible tax bill.

Had he not ditched his passport back in September and remained a citizen, taxes from Saverin’s stake in the social network might have been $600 million or more in a future scenario under President Obama’s millionaire-targeting Buffett Rule.
The 30-year-old who helped Mark Zuckerberg create Facebook was born and raised in Brazil, moved to the U.S. in 1992, and became a citizen in 1998.
“Eduardo recently found it to be more practical to become a resident of Singapore,” said his spokeswoman, Sabrina Strauss, adding he plans to invest in companies in Asia.
